Why we built Matchday, and where it's going.

The idea

Matchday started the way these things usually do — a group chat, a big weekend of fixtures, and the same argument every season about who actually called the scores best. Spreadsheets, screenshots and "I definitely said 2–1" only got us so far. So we built the thing we wished existed: a clean, fair way to predict scorelines with your mates and let the table settle it.

How we started

It began as a single Super Six–style football game for a handful of friends. The rules were simple — points for the right result, more for the exact score — and the one feature that really mattered was that nobody could see anyone else's picks until they locked. That fairness is still the heart of the product, enforced at the database level rather than on trust.
